Thanks to everyone who has lit a candle for my Grandad it really means the world to me.
Grandad was only out of hospital for five days before he died it wasn't expected we believed he was getting better.
I arrived back home on Tuesday 23rd September To be told by my husband that my Grandad was dying. I couldn't believe it, I phoned my uncle to be told that he was in a bad way. I went straight over to my grandparents house I got there at about 7.00 pm and my grandad passed at 2.10am on the 24th September surrounded by the family he loved.
My Grandad Pickering was a strong, proud, intelligent man with very high morals. He loved his family with all off his heart and would do whatever he could to make them happy even if it meant putting himself out, he would give you his last.
He also loved wildlife and nature and would go out and walk for miles. That was until Grandads poor health started and he had too give up his walking but he still carried on with his love of nature by working in the garden growing his vegetables and flowers.
Grandad also enjoyed reading and had books on nearly everything you can imagine. If you wanted to know anything he was the man to ask. He even self taught himself german and could speak it fluently.
He was also a funny man joking on and would spend hours telling you funny tales from the past. I loved to hear his stories he always made me laugh. Even when he was in hospital a week before he died my Grandad was telling us his stories and making us laugh thats the man he was, he was poorly and he was the one cheering us up.
Grandad Pickering you are going too be missed more that you can ever imagine.
Rose Beyond the Wall
A rose once grew
where all could see,
sheltered beside
a garden wall,
And as the days passed
swiftly by,
it spread its branches, straight and tall...
One day, a beam of light
shone through
a crevice that had
opened wide ~
The rose bent gently
toward its warmth
then passed beyond
to the other side
Now, you who deeply
feel its loss,
be comforted ~ the rose blooms there ~
its beauty even greater now,
nurtured by
God's own loving care.

Our love for you is not written on paper, for paper can be erased.
Nor is our love for you etched in stone, for stone can be broken.
But our love for you is inscribed in our hearts, where it shall remain forever.

Those we love remain with us for love itself lives on, and cherished memories never fade because a loved one's gone. Those we love can never be more than a thought apart, far as long as there is memory, they'll live on in the heart.

My Angel
I see you in dreams now:
You vanish by day.
I wish you could linger
To hear what I say.
Like how much I love you
And need you forever.
How bonds close as ours were
Death cannot sever.
I want to embrace you
And hold you so tight:
To see you at daybreak
When you melt with the night.
And yet through those mists,
I sense you are near.
Healing my sorrow,
Soothing my fear.
You'll be my sweet angel,
To guard and to guide:
Till we're reunited
To walk side by side.

✿ Spring Poem ✿
For My Guardian Angel
The snow has almost gone
Spring a few months away
Things that are most precious
They just don't seem to stay
Skates and ski's will be hung
In their place for another year
Boots, hats and mittens
Snow angels that I hold dear
People planting their flowers
The grass will again be green
The sun we shall see more often
Not hiding behind a screen
When I think of seasons in heaven
I know there could be only one
It must be filled with peace and love
And it's the angels that make the sun
Flowers are getting ready to bloom
Lily's, violets, and tulips too
I'd love to make an arrangement
And send it to heaven for you.

When a good person dies.
Night is coming on.
The last birds fly hurriedly to their nests.
Slowly but surely darkness takes possession of the world.
However, no sooner has darkness fallen,
than the lights begin to come on —
below us, around us, above us,
near us and far away from us —
a candle in a window, a lamp in a cellar,
a beacon in a lighthouse, a star in the sky.
And so we take heart and find our way again.
When a good person dies, darkness descends on us.
We feel lost, bereft, forlorn.
But gradually the lights begin to come on
as we recall the good deeds done by the deceased.
They spring up all over the place.
We are amazed at how much light is generated.
In this strange and beautiful light
we not only find our way,
but find the meaning of life itself.
Anon.

✻ ALWAYS NEAR ✻
God came and set your spirit free,
Yet I sense your presence with me.
I hear your voice on a gentle breeze
Your laughter echoing through the trees.
Wherever I go I feel you near;
The essence of you is crystal clear;
Is this a blessing infinitely kind?
Helping to soothe my troubled mind.
Now you have left this mortal plane,
I have no doubts I will see you again,
For often in dreams you whisper to me,
The promise of love through eternity.

♥ The Winding Lane ♥
Down the winding country lane
There's a soft and gentle breeze;
The perfume from the hedgerows
Comes drifting through the trees.
...................................................*ღ*
Birds sing sweet melodies
Bringing calmness to my mind;
My grief is slowly healing;
My sorrows left behind.
...................................................*ღ*
This lane is very special
I walk here every day,
Holding on to memories
Of times now far away.
...................................................*ღ*
For here I find the peace
God promised from the start;
It's found in His creation
To heal each broken heart.

♥*♥ I KNOW I HAVE DIED ♥*♥
I know I have died
I know that you grieve
But the pain that you feel
In time will recede.
But the memories you have
Of our time spent together
Will last you a life time
Will last you forever.
So please don't be sad
At my moment of passing
For you know that I now
Have life everlasting.
